O Christmas Tree

As we pulled our Christmas decorations out of our storage unit right after Thanksgiving, we laughed in absolute delight over what we found! I honestly couldn’t remember what we had kept in storage, what we took and stored in Kenya, and what we gave away until we opened our small Christmas bin. Each little item we pulled out was a sweet reminder of Christmases passed. The night before, we bought a beautiful (very artificial) pre-lit tree, which was our first full-sized tree in three years. Pete put the tree together and I fluffed the branches while the kids snuggled on the couch in their new Christmas jammies.

And they ate gigantic, white chocolate-covered marshmallows on sticks. Pure sugar? You bet. Ushering in the holiday season appropriately!

We bought a few, fun ornaments at Target to fill in until we build up our ornament collection. We’ve just never had very many, aside from the box filled with white crocheted ornaments Pete’s godmother made for him while he was growing up. Those are our favorites and cover all the empty spaces on the tree.

Have you put your tree up yet? After having a wee little tree in Kenya last year (and we were so thankful for it!!) and a tabletop tree the year before that, we were so excited for a big tree that we couldn’t wait to get it up. Though, yes, we did wait until after Thanksgiving. That’s just the way we do it around here.

Cheers to a very happy Christmas season!
