Let’s Go Fly a Kite

Pete and I first thought of the idea of dressing  as Bert + Mary Poppins a few years ago, but it was never quite the right time to make it happen. This year, we knew the kids were just the right age to play their roles as Jane + Michael Banks, so we couldn’t miss the opportunity! With the motivation of a little Halloween party in mid-October, we got to work getting the costumes ready! (Okay, let’s be honest, I did all the costumes. I LOVE putting costumes together! Most of our pieces are things we’ll wear outside of dressing up or are things we already had. I know without a doubt I’ll wear this Mary Poppins hat the next few months. Or not, but it was totally worth the DIY project!)

I’m pretty happy these two play along, but I’m mostly impressed that Pete doesn’t mind giving in to my little ideas.

On Halloween night, we made our way down the street to visit our new neighbors.

Sam thought it appropriate to bow as our neighbors came to the door! I’m pretty sure it got him extra candy.

The week before Halloween, Sam had a chance to practice trick-or-treating at speech.

He also found the mask of one of his favorite characters on a visit to Target. Thank you, $3 plastic mask, for adding hours of enjoyment to our house!

I melt just a little when I see his sweet little eyes peeking out through those plastic eye holes.

Coolest Darth ever.

We had such a great time dressing up this year! I admit, after a year away, I’m still soaking in the amazingness of Amazon Prime and the deliveries that arrive in just two days on my door step. Finding exactly what I need on my phone in my living room is my favorite kind of shopping!

Oh, I don’t know what melts my heart more, the family photo (goals!) or Sam bowing! So sweet!
