Another year at Apple Fest is in the books! We were really fortunate this year, and the rain stopped right when we arrived. That’s happened before, and it usually means crowds are smaller, especially since we were there right at the beginning of the day. Bayfield’s Apple Fest is one of our favorite events of the year! Once in a while, I get inspired to do a craft with both kids together. Sam’s actually getting to like crafty activities more often now, so this might become a regular thing we do, since Ella has always loved making things.
Last week I took the kids on an evening outing. This isn’t always so easy when Pete is away, but I was feeling adventurous and wanted to try out a new place. The kids had already been to Love Creamery once with Pete, but I hadn’t yet visited. It was so good! Sam went with his regular vanilla ice cream and added sprinkles, while Ella tried a couple different flavored scoops in a cone. I had strawberry rhubarb and a scoop of lavender honey. Oh my goodness! So yummy.
I just took a quick 10-day summer photo course from Kelle Hampton for some much-needed photog inspiration. I loved it and want to take pictures everywhere now! Our last assignment was to put together a short video of clips from something summery, and I thought the ice cream shop would be perfect. I’m so happy with how it turned out! I’m currently putting one together from my cousin’s wedding over the weekend. I’ll post it when I finish.
It still doesn’t feel like summer here in Duluth, but we’re trying to do all things summer anyway. I hope you’re enjoying your summer!
We celebrated the last day of the school year on Thursday with a bike ride for ice cream! Ella definitely feels like she’s ready for fourth grade, but I have the hardest time believing Sam is now a first grader! My baby!
Man, it feels hard to start a post after not writing one for months. It’s not that my writing skills are rusty. Quite the contrary. I’ve actually been writing more than ever. I just don’t know where to start! So, well, here we go.
We decided to give the kids one big Christmas gift this year. It wasn’t hard to choose what it would be, but it was hard to keep it a secret until Christmas morning! Pete was working over Christmas, so we planned to Skype in the morning while the kids opened their stockings. The fact that the Christmas parade from Disney World happened to be on at that same time was a lovely coincidence.
