Pumpkin Painting

Once in a while, I get inspired to do a craft with both kids together. Sam’s actually getting to like crafty activities more often now, so this might become a regular thing we do, since Ella has always loved making things.

Tears & Trust

I’ve been thinking about today for a while, not really sure I’ve wanted it to come. One year ago today we arrived back in Minnesota after 13 months in Kenya. There are just so many feelings around thinking about it. So many questions. And yes, there are tears.

Love Creamery, Duluth

Last week I took the kids on an evening outing. This isn’t always so easy when Pete is away, but I was feeling adventurous and wanted to try out a new place. The kids had already been to Love Creamery once with Pete, but I hadn’t yet visited. It was so good! Sam went with his regular vanilla ice cream and added sprinkles, while Ella tried a couple different flavored scoops in a cone. I had strawberry rhubarb and a scoop of lavender honey. Oh my goodness! So yummy.

I just took a quick 10-day summer photo course from Kelle Hampton for some much-needed photog inspiration. I loved it and want to take pictures everywhere now! Our last assignment was to put together a short video of clips from something summery, and I thought the ice cream shop would be perfect. I’m so happy with how it turned out! I’m currently putting one together from my cousin’s wedding over the weekend. I’ll post it when I finish.

It still doesn’t feel like summer here in Duluth, but we’re trying to do all things summer anyway. I hope you’re enjoying your summer!

School’s Out!

We celebrated the last day of the school year on Thursday with a bike ride for ice cream! Ella definitely feels like she’s ready for fourth grade, but I have the hardest time believing Sam is now a first grader! My baby!

Oh, Hey There

Hi Friends.

Man, it feels hard to start a post after not writing one for months. It’s not that my writing skills are rusty. Quite the contrary. I’ve actually been writing more than ever. I just don’t know where to start! So, well, here we go.

17 Must Haves for Every Mission Trip

I have loved my new job with World Gospel Mission! I get to do so much fun writing, some challenging writing, some creative stuff, too. I recently put together a piece I think will be helpful to anyone getting ready for a short- or mid-term mission trip. I asked lots of friends on Facebook what they think should be on the list. Some have been team participants, some team leaders, and a good number are long-term missionaries who’ve worked with lots of teams.

I’d love to share the piece with you! Click here to take a look. Maybe it’ll be helpful for your next mission trip!
