Cookies with Mama

Right before Christmas, Ella helped me whip up some sugar cookies. She loves to help in the kitchen, which means that I sometimes have to wait until she’s sleeping to get my bigger projects done. This morning she helped me make a cranberry coffee cake. It’s baking at this very moment. I’m looking forward to a taste a little later!

before I could stop her, she tried grabbing the cookies…
so our first batch was a little crumbly, but the rest turned out just right

Mama's Pedi

After a (brief) yoga session together this morning (since the girlie
can only handle so many mountain poses & downward dogs before wanting to play again), Miss Ella & I decided it was time for a pedi. First I painted Ella’s. Then she asked to do mine. Why not? I was pretty impressed that there wasn’t an even bigger mess. We loved it!

Photo Friday: In the Snow

Good thing we were out in the snow yesterday, because today it’s gone! What an unusual winter we’re having.

And The Winner Is…

I feel awful since I said I would make the announcement on Monday, then Tuesday, and now it’s Wednesday already! However, as I mentioned yesterday, the winner had been randomly selected on Monday, but I never had a chance to actually post the outcome. There were 14 comments (one didn’t actually show up on the list and I added it as number 14), so I plugged that into the random number generator online and came up with…

Comment number 9. And comment number 9 came from Joy! Congrats, Joy! You’ll be getting a box of fresh biscotti from The Little Yellow Kitchen, a handmade coffee cozy, and perhaps another little surprise. Send me an email or Facebook message with your address and I’ll get your box to you as soon as possible! Thanks to all who entered our very first giveaway. It was fun to read all of your holiday traditions. I certainly got some ideas that I might be using in the future!

In other news, Miss Ella let me put her hair in pigtails yesterday! This was quite the accomplishment since she usually doesn’t even let me put a bow in to keep the hair out of her eyes. I knew it wouldn’t last, so I took lots of pictures.

And within two hours (which was much longer than I had anticipated!) they were out. At least I have these pictures and the hope of what we may be able to achieve on a daily basis one day. Yes, one day, my little girl will let me do her hair. I’m looking forward to it.

Check Back

I know I said that I would announce the winner on Monday, but I didn’t know at that time I wouldnt have access to the computer until today. Pete’s been working on a presentation and took the computer with him, so this comes to you from my iPhone. The winner has been selected, though, so be sure to check back later today to find out who it is!

Happy New Year's Eve!

‘Tis the last evening of the 2011. Isn’t it amazing how quickly time passes? I know we hear that all the time, but really, it’s true! Last year when Pete was working for New Years, Ella was 18 months old and slept in a Pack n Play while Pete delivered babies and I watched the ball drop in New York. This year, she’s sitting next to me in the resident room at the hospital watching Sesame Street while Daddy delivers babies again! I don’t know how she’s still awake, but I’m pretty sure the little package of Cheetos she just ate has nothing to do with it. (wink, wink) I’m just hoping to make it long enough to celebrate the new year at midnight with my man before heading home with the tired girl. She’ll definitely be sleeping by then.

I watched this video earlier today and thought it was adorable. Happy New Year, my dear friends!
