We’re Back in the States

If you follow our journey on Facebook or Instagram, you likely already know we arrived back in the States on the fourth of July. (If you missed our post explaining why we’re back in the States, click here.) We tried our best to stay awake long enough to watch fireworks, but after traveling for 30+ hours, we were exhausted. Our kids were amazing, though, and handled our 5-hour, 14-hour, and 3-hour flights like pros. Which I suppose they are now after the trips we’ve taken back and forth!

We stayed a few days in Minneapolis before heading up to Duluth and beginning to settle a bit. We saw family and spent a little time resting before packing a few bags again to hit the road to Indiana. We arrived at World Gospel Mission headquarters on Monday and have been a part of a debriefing program designed for those coming off the mission field from countries all over the world. It’s been really good for us and for the kids. They’re going through some of the same material we are but geared toward their understanding. We’ll be here next week, as well, for more meetings and trainings. Then we’ll be back in Duluth to continue settling, seeing friends, and transitioning to life again in the US.

To say the last two months have been a whirlwind seems like it might be a bit of an understatement. This isn’t at all where we planned to be right now, but we have full confidence we made the right decision for Sam. He’s set to start speech therapy beginning in September, and both kids are registered to attend public school in the fall. What a change it will be for them! I think they’ll both really enjoy being in a setting with lots of kids. Our little socialites!

So that’s the news for now. I’ve started going through photos from the last two months so I can get them posted soon. Some really sweet memories. I’m so looking forward to sharing them with you. In the meantime, be sure to follow us on Instagram for photos and updates!
